Types In College

ESTJ

Part 1-

Choosing A Major I chose my major (Communications) when I was in high school and I have stuck with it and really enjoyed it. The reason I love it is because I am using things I learn in class right away in my job. For example, the public speaking and rhetoric classes I've taken have helped me immediately when it comes to my preaching.

Learning Style I have a really difficult time when i can't see the whole picture of a class and why each assignment is important. I also get frustrated with over-redendancy. I need factual experiences to get me to truly believe something is true. Even though I'm an extrovert, I don't like working in groups with people I don't know very well.

Reading, Writing, Studying At the beginning of each week I set out what my schedule looks like. I'm very good about
letting people know ahead of time if I'm not gonna be there. Its very true that I only read enough to get by on an
assignment. Often times I wonder why I even buy books at the beginning of a semester. I'm good at public speaking
and I don't like to revise my first draft of assignments / projects / sermons.

Playing
No matter what kind of activity I'm involved in...I'm always a leader. I really enjoy competition and i love turning everything into a game.

Causes of Stress
Once I make a decision I like to stick to it and make it work. I get stressed if I look into other options afterwards. When other people aren't thinking logically it stresses me out.

Dealing with Stress
I love being organized and taking charge of an event. I feel like I sense situations well and I trust my hunches. I sometimes don't allow other people to do enough. When I'm stressed...I don't delegate, which can be bad.

Part 2-

1. Select a person in your life who you would like to improve your communication with. (Roommate, boss, professor, parent, brother or sister, friend) Sister

2. Based on your observations of this person, guess their four letter code. Explain your guess. ESTP. She is more extroverted than me. My sister loves to solve problems. She loves helping people. My sister is extremely loving.

3. Compare and contrast your code with them. We both love to help people, but we do it in different ways. I like to help with guidance and oversight...my sister likes to help people at the ground level.

4. List ways that you might adapt to their communication style to improve the relationship. Asking her for help in my life. That makes her feel like she is involved and that she's valuable to me. I can also get involved and help her.
